Moussa Sissoko undergoes MCL surgery, out until at least April

Not sure whether to laugh or cry, tbh.

Did you think that, after starting out the season in disastrous form, firing Mauricio Pochettino, dropping out of the top four, and losing Hugo Lloris, Ben Davies, Harry Kane AND Tanguy Ndombele for an extended period due to injury, that Tottenham Hotspur’s season couldn’t get any worse?

OH BUDDY.

Tottenham announced via its social media channel that the Southampton match has claimed a third victim — Moussa Sissoko has undergone MCL knee surgery and will be sidelined with a view towards returning to training sometime in April

I mean, this would be almost funny if it weren’t so tragic. Spurs are now without two of their regular options in midfield, plus their talismanic striker, for a long time. (In fairness we don’t have an update on Ndombele, but that doesn’t really matter at this point.) The only silver lining on this cloud is that an MCL injury is less damaging than an ACL injury, so hopefully he can recover fully and not be bothered by a dodgy knee for the rest of his career.

I think we can safely assume that Harry Winks will not be sold to Manchester City, Manchester United, or anywhere this season, and now there sure seems to be a good chance that Giovani Lo Celso will get his shot in central midfield. Because honestly, there aren’t many more options out there, unless Spurs decide to sign someone in January.

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Fuck.
