Ramble of the Day
I think I should leave today’s Hoddle as a space for us to talk about Alex Trebek, who died yesterday at the age of 80. It took me a little while to gather my thoughts after I found out, but I settled on how I feel about him. For sure, he’s an icon, but what I think made him special was the balance he always struck by being intelligent and funny, the second probably largely based on the first. Jeopardy! is on its own an inherently interesting show, but Trebek knew completely how to make it more enjoyable in every sense. He will surely be missed, but what a treat it was to have him around for as long as we did.
