Help Carty Free get sponsorship in Spurs match against Marine FC!

You knew we’d try something like this.

Not long after the balls were drawn for Tottenham Hotspur’s FA Cup match against Marine FC, we had an idea that just sounds too good to pass up.

While surfing Twitter that day to see reactions from various supporters, we all remember Marine FC’s tweet about MOURINHO TO MARINE and how cool that was. Going to Marine FC’s main timeline, however, gave us a different tweet that got us thinking:

We started scratching our chins in deep thought and figured “Why not reach out?”

A few emails back and forth and we’ve learned that sponsorship for Marine FC in this match will cost some coin, but it’s for one heck of a good cause. Supporting the lower division clubs is something every football supporter can get behind, especially during the COVID pandemic.

So here’s the skinny: Cartilage Free Captain wants to sponsor this match. Our goal is to raise £1,000 so the site can be the Teamsheet Sponsor for the FA Cup match. There are higher tiers we could hit for bigger sponsors including the headline program sponsor or even be the official match sponsor! However, we’re not setting our sights that high.

We’re going to start a fundraising page for this match. Any money that the community donates will go directly to Marine FC, regardless of whether we hit the goal or not. We have given the club the option of a charitable donation to the foundation or charity of their choosing as well. Of course, if we hit our goal, that overage amount will be donated.

So what’s in it for the community besides seeing it involved in the FA Cup? There is a possibility of getting some tickets, but I have not confirmed this. The COVID-19 pandemic is also going to be a big part of that discussion as to whether or not there will be fans allowed. If we do get tickets for the match as part of the sponsorship, we would hold a drawing for anyone who donated that resides in the UK and can make the trip to Merseyside.

A world record is going to be set with this match in terms of the gap between tiers. Let’s see if we can help out Marine while seeing the Carty Free name involved directly.

Here is the link to the fundraiser. We had to put it in USD because we are based in the United States. With the percentage taken and the exchange rate, the goal is set at $1400. As always, transparency will be provided showing that every dollar goes to Marine FC and to charity.

UPDATE (9:45AM ET): I will never underestimate this community again. The fundraiser hasn’t been up for an hour and we’re almost at our goal. We just cleared $1200! Let’s see how much we can raise and we will ask for sponsorship accordingly. You guys are flat out incredible!

UPDATE (10:11AM ET): And just like that, we’ve hit the first goal of $1,400. We are at an absolute loss for words, but now we’re setting our sights on the higher tiers. I posted it in the comment section below. Remember: Every last bit of this goes to Marine FC and to a charity of their choosing. The sky is the limit here.

UPDATE (10:30AM ET): So we’re well on our way to $3,000 because everyone is sharing this and the support has been incredible. Because of this, we’re raising the goal higher as each tier becomes available to us. The goal is now $7,500. We will keep updating it as we climb higher. We cannot thank you guys enough.

UPDATE (4:40PM ET): Y’all are incredible. We can’t believe it. We just hit $7500, which is the “Warm-up Tops” level, in less than 8 hours. WHY STOP NOW? The next level is $10,100, which is the “Back Of Shorts” level. Oh baby. LET’S GO. #GetCartyFreeTheButt

UPDATE (6:57PM ET): We heard back from Marine FC! They have seen our campaign and are obviously thankful for what we’re doing. They did inform us that most of the inventory for sponsorship is now gone....but they are holding the back of the shorts sponsorship for us! Currently, we are about $1,700 away from that goal. Given the outpouring of support today, we may have this locked down tomorrow.

UPDATE (12:25 ET): Presented without comment.
