Steven Bergwijn’s Tottenham Hotspur debut couldn’t have gone any better. The Dutchman, who was signed ahead of the January transfer deadline from PSV Einhoven for around €31 million, scored just 63 minutes into his first start.
Not only did he get a goal, but his strike gave his new side a 1-0 lead over reigning champions Manchester City. It was a delightful take, as well. After a scramble around the box, Lucas found Bergwijn inside the box. His first touch was a beautiful chest down into a volley that was even better:

What a moment to prove your worth to your new fans. Spurs don’t often spend a lot of money on signings so to see a high-profile acquisition like Bergwijn come in and make an immediate impact has to be a sight for sore eyes to the fans and Jose Mourinho.
Unfortunately, it appeared as if Bergwijn limped off with a knock soon after. Hopefully that wouldn’t hurt his chances of continuing his run of form in the next match.
