So much for the highly anticipated North London Derby. Today’s Women’s Super League match between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur at Arsenal’s Meadow Park ground has been called off due to “adverse weather conditions.”

It’s the second Spurs Women match in a row that has been called off; last week’s home match against Bristol City was also called off for a water-logged pitch.

Obviously Spurs can’t help the weather, and the weather is apparently pretty nasty around London, with Storm Ciara bringing heavy rain and high winds to the metropolitan area and some even calling it the “storm of the century.” Obviously the safety of the players and fans are of utmost priority, though it’s still disappointing not to play such an anticipated match.

The clubs will announce details when the match is rescheduled. In the meantime Tottenham’s next scheduled match is a home tie against Everton at The Hive on February 12.
