Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld shared on Twitter on Sunday that he will donate dozens of electronic tablets to hospitals and nursing homes as the coronavirus pandemic encourages social distancing. He noted, however, that these recommendations from medical experts have created isolating circumstances for those suffering from COVID-19.

“The virus creates many needs, especially the lack of personal contact,” Alderweireld said in the video. “The people [who] are sick, they can’t see their friends or family and stuff like this, so my plan is to buy dozens of tablets to give to the hospitals and nursery homes so people can video chat with their loved ones and their friends to get through this tough period.”
Alderweireld said he will be getting the tablets to hospitals and nursing homes in the coming days and weeks, and encouraged others to help in any way they can.
“I hope anyone who can spare or can give or something that they can do to help a little bit people in need to still see their families and friends because it will help a lot,” he said.
