After receiving guidance from the Premier League regarding Project Restart, Tottenham Hotspur along with the other league clubs will begin training in small groups at Spurs’ training ground beginning tomorrow.
The Premier League released a statement on Monday announcing that shareholders had unanimously agreed to the resumption of small group training as one phase in a series that are intended to result in the resumption of Premier League matches in early June. The training sessions will initially non-contact drills, with players taking appropriate precautions and maintaining a six foot/three meter distance from their teammates. This phase was agreed to “in consultation with players, managers, Premier League club doctors, independent experts and the Government.”
The league’s statement did not release a detailed plan as to the following phases of training, or when those new phases would begin.
Spurs released a statement of their own on their website, summarizing the Premier League’ statement and implying that they would begin this phase of training beginning Tuesday afternoon.
If all goes according to plan, the Premier League is set to restart with full matches behind closed doors beginning the weekend of June 12 or June 19.
