Mystical wanderers,,,,hello. I, Troy Parrott, Tarot Pro, am continuing our journey through and exploration of the Tarot. In this series, we are examining each card of the major arcana, using a special North London themed deck of my own design. What do the cards hold in store for your future?
Today, we move on to Card II: The High Priestess.
II – The High Priestess

Upright
Intuition, sacred knowledge, the divine feminine
Inverted
Unpredictability, negation, secrets, withdrawal
The High Priestess is a special card in the Major Arcana. She represents the archetype of the divine feminine — wisdom and sacred knowledge, empathy and compassion. (Just not when she’s playing Arsenal.) The High Priestess sits in front of a doorway that is blocked by a screen — she is the guardian of the knowledge that lies beyond. She is flanked by two columns marked “A N,” representing the latin phrase an nescis — “Do you know?” Only those who hold the key to this hidden knowledge is allowed past. These include those who schlepp their way to Edgware every other weekend, or who signed up for the FA Player and commit to streaming matches at odd hours...
The moon, that eternal symbol of femininity, sits at her feet, and doesn’t she look like she’s about to side-foot it past Manuela Zinsberger? Her magnificent crown, which perches atop her helmet-like hair, is also round, as though it would spring off her head to the foot of a teammate. In her hands, she holds a scroll reading “COYS,” which holds all of the collected wisdom and knowledge; she is willing to spread the good news to those who will listen. Are you, reader, ready to listen now?
She also is fast as hell and has a rocket of a cross from the left flank.
Inverted, the High Priestess does not represent the opposite of the above. Instead, she is a call to action, to embrace your understanding of the feminine within you. Perhaps you enjoyed the 2019 World Cup and really meant to start watching your club team but just never got around to it. Perhaps you feel guilty about that fact. The inverted High Priestess calls you to attention. It reminds you: tickets are just a fiver. It’s a great day out with the fam. The Hive is five minutes from the Jubilee line, and the matches are all free to stream. Listen to the High Priestess’ voice — you are welcomed, if you choose to be. Learn what she has to teach.
Come back tomorrow and we shall discuss the next card in the Tottenham Hotspur Tarot.
