More great news for Tottenham Hotspur Women! The club announced today that three-year veteran fullback Ashleigh Neville has agreed to a new contract that will keep her at the club through the 2021-22 season!

Neville has been a part of the club since I started following Spurs Women closely, and she’s always been one of my favorite players on the team. She arrived from Coventry United in 2017 and instantly became one of the most important players on the roster, even winning Player of the Season in her first year at the club. The club’s official announcement also notes that Neville was the first defender to win a Player of the Month award in the FA Women’s Championship during Spurs’ promotion campaign last year.

Neville is of huge importance to the way Spurs play — she’s a true “up and back” fullback, capable of bombing forward and firing in crosses, but also a stout individual defender. She’s also got a unique and incredible helmet of hair, and that’s not something that should be discounted.

I’m super excited to see Ashleigh remain at Spurs for another two years! COYS!

Update: Another one! A few days after Tottenham’s backup keeper Chloe Morgan was released to free agency, the club has now locked down their #1. Minutes after the Neville extension was announced, the club also announced that starting keeper Becky Spencer has also agreed to a new contract through the 2020-21 season!
