Celebrate Alex Morgan’s Tottenham signing with “Tea Time in North London” t-shirt

Hey, maybe you’ve heard by now, but USA women’s national team superstar Alex Morgan is now a Tottenham Hotspur Women player for the next year. It’s kind of a big deal.

What better way to commemorate her coming to Spurs then with perhaps Morgan’s most iconic moment when she pretended to sip tea after scoring against England in the World Cup semifinals? On her 30th birthday, no less?

That moment may not have endeared her to English football fans, many of which clutched their pearls in indignation, but I’m guessing there’s a whole bunch of English Spurs Women fans who are pretty quick to forgive now that she’s putting on a Lilywhite shirt.

It’s impossible to overstate what an amazing signing this is for Tottenham Hotspur. Yes, other NWSL stars have made the trek across the pond to sign with FA WSL clubs — Christen Press, Sam Mewis, Rose Lavelle, etc. — but Alex friggin’ Morgan signing for Tottenham is not just the most important (albeit temporary) signing in the history of the club, it’s the biggest transfer coup in Women’s Super League history.
