Tottenham Hotspur may be without a few players for its FA Cup tie at Wycombe Wanderers on Monday, with manager José Mourinho revealing that Dele, Matt Doherty, and Serge Aurier may be unavailable for different reasons.
In a pre-match press conference Friday, Mourinho described the trio as a “little group we have [of] two or three players with small problems” that may keep them out of the match. For Dele and Doherty, it’s injury, while Aurier is currently battling an illness (via football.london):
Matt Doherty, he was not involved at Sheffield United, I’m not sure he will recover, Dele is not training in the last couple of days, a small problem in the tendon and Serge Aurier also is not really well.
Mourinho did not offer specifics on Aurier’s illness, but maintained he could not be certain one way or another if those players would be available against Wycombe.
One player who certainly will not play, though, is Giovani Lo Celso. Mourinho said the midfielder “still has a few more weeks” before he will return from a hamstring injury he picked up against Leicester City on December 20. The Guardian reported at the beginning of the month that Lo Celso’s injury would keep him out for most of January, but it appears the timeline has been extended a little bit.
