Tottenham Hotspur Women’s transfer news has been pretty quiet apart from the loan for Manchester United and England national team defender Abbie McManus, but they’re also working on getting some of their younger players some experience. Spurs Women today announced that 19-year old academy product and midfielder Elisha Sulola is heading to Charlton Athletic in the FA Women’s Championship on loan until the end of the season.

Sulola is right on the cusp of the first team, but not at the point where she’s going to get regular minutes under Rehanne Skinner this season. She’s made two appearances for Spurs in the WSL this season for just 28 minutes, but she scored in last season’s FA Cup win over Barnsley. She earned her first professional contract with Spurs in September under then-managers Karen Hills & Juan Amoros. Even so, it’s clear that she’s one for the future and she’s highly regarded at Spurs, so a loan to the FAWC makes sense.

Charlton are rock-bottom of the FAWC with five points from nine matches, but due to COVID postponements they have three games in hand over their closest rivals, so the table position is a touch misleading. Sulola will hopefully get some good opportunities for minutes that she can turn into experience. Good luck, Elisha!
