Hytner: Danny Rose set to stay, leave Spurs this summer on a Bosman

I guess the Turkey move fell through?

Danny Rose always said he was content to see out the terms of his Tottenham Hotspur contract. I guess he’s going to be true to his word. According to David Hytner in the Guardian’s transfer deadline day tracker, Tottenham does not expect him to leave the club today, but he most certainly will when his contract expires in June.

The 30-year-old left-back has been in the deep freeze at Tottenham, having not even been given a squad number. His football this season has been a pair of appearances for the club’s under-23 team in November. Rose will be out of contract in June but the club do not expect him to be on the move today, raising the prospect of a damaging stand-off being prolonged.

There were rumors about a move to Trabzonspor in, well, the Turkish media. I don’t know what happened to that. There was unsourced ITK that it fell apart due to a visa issue or something, or the Turkish football report that sourced it could be liars. Who knows.

What we do know is that Danny Rose, the club’s longest tenured player, is most likely going to limp out of his contract and leave the club in June. You’re free to feel otherwise, but for me it just makes me sad.
