Tottenham Hotspur will try to bounce back from consecutive losses to Liverpool and Brighton on Thursday in a HUGE game against Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, they’ll need to do so without four of their first team. Tottenham released team news on their website today and Jose Mourinho confirmed that Harry Kane, Sergio Reguilon, Giovani Lo Celso, and Dele will all miss the match due to injury.
“Harry is still out, but I’m very positive that next week he should be back. That is not being ultra-optimistic, it’s just the normal evolution. Reguilon is still out, Gio Lo Celso, probably one more month and Dele a few more days, but no-one is coming back for this match.”
That first bit is the really good news — Harry Kane is expected to be back in contention for either (or both?) of the matches against Everton or Manchester City next week. That’s at least a week ahead of schedule, which shouldn’t surprise anyone who has been following the path of Kane’s injury recovery over the past couple of years. It’s still a fantastic bit of news after he injured both of his ankles against Liverpool last week.
Mourinho has been adamant that the reason that Dele hasn’t been playing was because of injury and not the furor around his potential loan to PSG (¿por que no los dos?), but after his promising comments earlier today it sure seems like he may be back in contention for some minutes against West Brom on Sunday.
Jose also made note of another player who missed Spurs’ last match — Serge Aurier. Mourinho said that Serge is back with the team, although nobody knows if he’ll be going straight back into the starting lineup tomorrow.
