We don’t have a complete picture of which Tottenham Hotspur players will be reporting for international duty after this weekend, but we’ve got a pretty good one now that England and France have issued their rosters. Five Spurs players have been called up to represent their countries in World Cup qualifying next week.
First, for the Three Lions: Harry Kane and Eric Dier will be in Gareth Southgate’s squad for upcoming matches against San Marino, Albania, and Poland.
Here it is… your first #ThreeLions squad of the year!

For France, captain Hugo Lloris, Moussa Sissoko, and Tanguy Ndombele have all gotten the call as well. France play matches against Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

The nonstop nature of this COVID-compressed schedule isn’t doing anyone any favors, especially as there are now THREE matches in this international break instead of the usual two. Considering two of England’s opponents are against minnows San Marino and Albania, one would hope that Southgate would use this opportunity to give minutes to players not named Harry Kane and Eric Dier. Same with France, but who knows. That we’re still trying to squish international qualifiers into an already crowded schedule with exhausted players who, with the EUROS this summer will get almost literally no break this summer feels... well, suboptimal?
As always, we simply hope no one comes back injured.
Update: The Ireland FA also released its internationals list, and both Matt Doherty and Troy Parrott were called up. Ireland plays WCQ matches against Serbia and Luxembourg, as well as a friendly against Qatar.
