If Tottenham Hotspur beat Everton today, they’d be back in with a chance to finish top four and improbably qualify for the Champions League next season. If they had LOST to Everton, well that’s bad, but it would make it much more likely that Jose Mourinho gets fired in the near term.
Instead, we got the worst of both worlds. Spurs’ 2-2 draw at Goodison Park didn’t help either team, meaning we got 90 minutes of drab, uninspiring football punctuated by two excellent goals from Harry Kane. Spurs’ Champions League hopes are pretty much done, and now who knows whether Mourinho will stay or go in the next few days. There’s a cup final next weekend.
Turning and turning in the widening gyre, the falcon cannot hear the falconer. Mou anarchy is unleashed upon the world.
Let’s rate the players.
Rate the players from 1⁄2 to 5 stars. If the player doesn’t deserve a rating due to minutes played, DO NOT RANK. I will round the stars up/down to the nearest half-star for the player ratings later this week.
