Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was custom built specifically in order to host National Football League games in addition to soccer matches. It’s why the stadium has full size NFL locker rooms, not to mention the retractable grass field with an NFL-ready turf pitch underneath.

While last season’s London Games were cancelled due to COVID, it’s expected that the NFL will return to London this winter, hopefully with a full crowd. Yesterday, one NFL team confirmed that they’re hopping across the pond — the Atlanta Falcons tweeted that they will play a game next season at Spurs’ home ground.

That’s all the information we know right now. We don’t know who Atlanta will play in this game, nor do we know if there will be another game at Spurs’ home ground, but I expect there will be. These games typically happen in October, and the league will almost certainly be coming out with an official announcement before too long.

Spurs were set to host two games this past season, but COVID put play to that. The NFL was happy to reaffirm their commitment to playing future games in London, and Spurs are expected to be the home venue for those games, with Wembley Stadium also a potential location.

The Falcons are coming off of a pretty poor season in 2020-21, finishing with a 4-12 record that saw their head coach Dan Quinn fired after the team started 0-5. This will be the first time they’ve played in London since 2014.
