A Pre-Transfer Farewell Letter to Harry Kane

Dear Harry,

Being a relatively young fan and only starting to watch in the 2010-2011 season, you have been around for most of my tenure as a Spurs fan. As much as I can look back fondly on the days of Roberto Soldado, your work at this club has been influential to so many of us as fans. Looking back on some of my favorite players in the past decade, you and Moussa Dembele have topped the charts as the most fun to watch. If only Dembele could have stayed and started the Champions League final instead of everyone’s favorite player on this page, one who shares a first name with you.

If you do leave this summer, I hope it is to another premier league club, because you deserve to go after the goal scoring record. While I wish you could do it here, I can understand how playing for a club that possibly won’t make Europe for the first time since I’ve been watching them isn’t the best place for you. I just wanted to thank you for all the great memories, which I will now list.

The 5-3 win against Chelsea on New Year’s Day of 2015 is one of my personal favorites. I remember celebrating that day thinking that this was the year Tottenham would get wins against the big teams. Phil Dowd even called a penalty for us!

Your header against Arsenal is another one of my favorite moments. As a viewer from the states, I believe it might have been a 7:30 A.M. start time on the east coast. Getting up to watch Tottenham and being rewarded with some great goals was always fun.

This part of the list goes out to every impressive long shot you have ever done, as there are too many to list. You might not be the fastest, but your accuracy was brilliant. The angle of the shot against Arsenal is one that comes to mind. But you always had a knack for finding the space, and finishing even if you were only one step away from the defender.

I’ll always remember you as the player that scored whenever he got a step of space to shoot with, but also one that scored some brilliant goals for us. Your regime at Tottenham might be coming to an end, but just remember that we will appreciate you for many years to come.

Sincerely,

A Tottenham Fan
