Romano: Andersen high on Tottenham’s list, but manager comes before transfers

Joachim Andersen looks likely to be one of Tottenham’s defensive reinforcements this summer, regardless of who the new boss is.

Tottenham Hotspur obviously haven’t yet hired their new manager yet, and because of that the usual bonkers amount of transfer rumors we usually have is a lot lower so far. However, one name that continually rises to the surface is Lyon’s Joachim Andersen, who spent the season on loan at Fulham quietly enjoying a very good year.

Good news if you’re an Andersen stan: things are looking good in that regard. Here’s super-twitter journo Fabrizio Romano on the continued links between Spurs and the Danish international:

It’s unlikely Andersen will cost that much, though Daniel Levy will still have to negotiate with his evil French twin, Jean-Michel Aulas. That won’t necessarily be fun, but they eventually got the Tanguy Ndombele transfer over the line two summers ago so I feel pretty confident about this one too. By all accounts Andersen is a solid young defender playing for a pretty crappy Fulham team, but he’s only 24 and has a pretty high ceiling. Spurs have been tracking him for a while now but according to Fabrizio they’re not his only suitors.

I suppose there’s a slim chance that they could lose out Joachim if they dink around too much on the managerial appointment side of things, but with that hopefully squared away within a week or so I’d expect that we’ll see some transfer stuff — and a bunch more rumors — before too long.
