Like soccer fans across the world, we watched Christian Eriksen’s medical emergency with a mix of sadness and helplessness. As Tottenham Hotspur fans everywhere, it was impossible not to think of all the joy he brought to us and how unable we were to give anything back to help him in that moment. Fortunately, Eriksen appears to be okay right now and is recovering at the hospital next door to the stadium.

While we can’t help Christian, we’re not helpless to help another person who might need resuscitation in an emergency. Simon Kjaer, Eriksen’s teammate, got him in the recovery position and stabilized him for CPR as the medics came to his aid. It’s really quite easy to learn, and it can be the difference between somebody living and dying before emergency medical services can arrive to help them out. So, take five minutes, and read this article and/or watch the video embedded in it below, and maybe we can take this horrible helpless feeling and do a little good in the world with it.
