Gennaro Gattuso in “advanced negotiations” on two year Tottenham contract

I have a lot to say. I will say it later.

When I woke up this morning I did not expect to be typing these words: according to multiple reports including Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur is in “advanced negotiations” to sign Gennaro Gattuso as their next head coach. The deal is expected to be two years.

I have a LOT to say about this potential appointment, but this is not the time nor the place to say it. That’ll come tonight when I have the time to sit down and articulate my thoughts into something resembling coherence. But know this — I have a pretty strong opinion about this potential hire, and that opinion will not be in any way ambiguous.

But here’s a taster: Jorge Mendes has apparently gotten his claws back into this club, a problem we thought had been taken care of with the sacking of Jose Mourinho two months ago. That doesn’t make me happy, to put it mildly.

This looks like something that continues to gain momentum, but also we’ve been here before. A couple of times, in fact. I’m no longer willing to make any definitive statement until there’s a photo of someone holding up a Spurs shirt on Tottenham’s website and social media feeds. I’ve been burned too many times already.
