Tottenham Hotspur Women have lost an assistant coach this summer, but for the best of reasons. A tweet from the club this morning announced that Lauren Smith, one of Rehanne Skinner’s top assistants, has left the club to assume the position of manager at Bristol City Women.
The club can confirm that Tottenham Hotspur Women Assistant Coach Lauren Smith is to leave her role to take up the vacant Head Coach position at Bristol City.

The Club would like to thank Lauren for her contribution and wish her all the best for the future.
Smith has only been at Spurs since January, but according to the BBC she has a long history with Bristol City having worked her way up through the coaching ranks there, starting with the age group girls. She worked her way up to assistant coach at Bristol City before leaving to become an assistant with Wales in 2017.
Bristol was relegated this past season finishing at the bottom of the table, which makes this a really good opportunity for Smith to manage at the FA Women’s Championship level in what will be her first opportunity to lead a club. Tottenham Women manager Rehanne Skinner made a short statement thanking Lauren for her contributions this past season.
“Lauren has been fantastic during her time with us and I hope she has enjoyed working with us as much as we have working with her. It’s a fantastic opportunity and we wish her the very best as she moves into her first senior management role, something she has always aspired to do.”
