We are expecting and prepared for a number of Tottenham Hotspur signings today and in the coming days, but were surprised to see a new signing from Spurs Women this morning! Tottenham Women announced the signing of Chinese forward Tang Jiali on loan from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shengli through the end of the season.

The 26-year old Tang is a regular starter for China’s women’s national team and was once considered one of the best young women’s football talents in China. She’s been a consistent scorer in the Super League and made her international debut seven years ago in a match against women’s soccer powerhouse USA.

It’s no secret that the one thing Tottenham really struggled with last season was putting the ball in the back of the net. That’s something that Tang can hopefully help with, even as she adjusts to a new league in a new country. For her sake, Jiang said she’s thrilled to be playing in England and is excited to be joining Tottenham for this season.

“I am so happy to be joining Tottenham Hotspur. I am a big fan of Premier League football and I’ve always dreamt of playing in England. I can’t wait to arrive in London, and I hope I can help make it a successful season for the team.”

Jiali is currently still in China but will be joining her new teammates soon. Welcome to Tottenham, Jiali!
