It’s a big day for Fabrizio Romano in Tottenham Hotspur transfer-land. Just after breaking that the Pierluigi Gollini transfer is finished but not announced, Romano threw another bone at Spurs supporters, tweeting that the club has reached an agreement on personal terms with Gollini’s Atalanta teammate, centerback Cristian Romero.
Tottenham have an agreement on personal terms with Argentinian centre back Cristian Romero until June 2026. It’s not true that the player is refusing Spurs. ⚪️ #THFC

Tottenham and Atalanta are now negotiating on the fee - still no agreement reached, talks on.
“Personal terms” just means that they’ve agreed on what Spurs will pay Romero in weekly salary and bonuses, but there’s still apparently work to be done between Tottenham and Atalanta over a transfer fee. And that’s the sticky wicket, because we’ve seen plenty of transfers over the years go bust after the clubs couldn’t agree on how much to give each other.
So it’s wise to keep your powder dry on this one, because there’s a lot that could still go wrong and scupper any deal in place. However, Romero would be a FANTASTIC defensive signing for Spurs, if they can get it over the line. Who knows, maybe Davinson Sanchez will be made a part of the deal as a makeweight. The mythical swap deal seems to be seen in the wild more and more these days.
Stay tuned.
