Tottenham Rumor Roundup: Winks away, Parrott loan, and more

I woke up this morning to a bunch of fresh Tottenham Hotspur transfer rumors. Normally I’d spin these out into a separate article, but this week has been a little hectic and frankly, there’s not a ton to say for all of these, so I thought I’d open your Thursday with something I rarely do — a transfer rumor roundup.

Harry Winks in talks with another Premier League club

Winksy’s days at Tottenham are looking like they could be numbered, according to Football Insider, who claim that the homegrown midfielder has now opened discussions with another club for a summer transfer. There have been murmurs in the past weeks, and especially since Nuno Espirito Santo arrived, that Harry was told that he could leave if he desired, and it’s no secret that he’s been unhappy with his playing time. There have been somewhat recent rumors that suggested interest from Everton and Aston Villa. This report doesn’t say which club Winksy is talking to, but says there’s interest from “multiple clubs” and that Spurs want £30m for him. Might also explain why he was absent from yesterday’s friendly squad.

Troy Parrott could go on loan to MK Dons

This is more like the kernel of a rumor than an actual rumor, but according to a short tweet from Telegraph writer Mike McGrath, Tottenham’s young striker Troy Parrott could be a target for MK Dons, whom Tottenham played in a friendly yesterday. Parrott is very likely to head out on loan again this season — he had one bad and one decent loan last year but in his preseason appearances hasn’t looked quite ready for prime-time. Also, Dane Scarlett is too young to head out on loan, so it makes sense to send out Troy. MK Dons is in League One but they play some pretty good football, and it could be a good close-ish spot for Parrott to really get some good first team experience.

Update: As I was writing this, McGrath updated it to say that Parrott will be having a medical in Milton Keynes today.

Spurs receive loan bid from Galatasaray for Japhet Tanganga

That same short tweet also dropped another tidbit — apparently young defender Japhet Tanganga is wanted by Galatasaray for a season-long loan. I’m not necessarily opposed to this, but I think it depends on what happens with more incomings, and especially whether Serge Aurier leaves the club and Takehiro Tomiyasu joins. The right back position is pretty dicey and we know that Japhet can cover as a more defensive, even if it’s not his preferred position. That said, Tanganga is a CB, and it’s not clear that there would be a lot of minutes for him at Spurs in that position next season. Keep an eye on this one.

Be wary of Romero rumors

Unconfirmed reports from Sky Italy are suggesting that Atalanta are now demanding €60-65m for Cristian Romero, a significant goalpost move. Thing is, I can’t find it anywhere apart from unlinked aggregator accounts, which makes me think it might have been a statement made by a pundit on Sky Italy’s TV channel. This isn’t a rumor more than me cautioning everyone to keep a very healthy skepticism of anything you read from aggregator accounts on Twitter. The last reliable reporting said that there’s still a gap between what Atalanta values Romero and how much Spurs are willing to pay, but there’s also some optimism that both sides can get this transfer across the line. So don’t melt down (yet).
