Harry Kane and England have arrived. Though it took the offense a few matches to wake up, the Three Lions enter the semifinals with perhaps as much momentum as any team left. The squad has not necessarily been dominant the entire tournament, but with five clean sheets in five matches and a 4-0 quarterfinals win, it is all systems go on Wednesday.
The path has been quite different for Denmark, whose tournament started in the worst way possible with the terrifying collapse of Christian Eriksen on the pitch. The Danes have rallied behind him and advanced to the knockout round on a dramatic final matchday before recording wins over Wales and the Czech Republic to reach the semifinals.
England will be expected to advance given its form and fortuitous match locations, but history seems anything but on its side. Fair or not, there are many demons for this team still to conquer, and until Kane and company raise the trophy, the doubts will not cease. Just 180 minutes stand in the way of that reality, though. Will this team be able to best its 2018 World Cup result?
