Defender TJ Eyoma is the latest academy product to leave Tottenham Hotspur, officially joining League One side Lincoln City. The move comes after a successful loan spell with Lincoln last season.
ℹ️ We have reached agreement with Lincoln City for the permanent transfer of TJ Eyoma.— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) August 17, 2021
Eyoma initially joined Lincoln on loan for the second half of the 2019-20 season, but the play stoppage forced by the COVID-19 pandemic meant he did not play for the team that season. He returned for a loan last season, playing 53 games. He was part of the team that made it to the League One playoff final last year, and played in a match the team eventually lost to Blackpool.
As for his time at Spurs, Eyoma made his only first team appearance as a substitute against Tranmere Rovers during an FA Cup tie in January 2019. He signed a new three year deal with the club last year.
It is not a surprise when most academy products get sold, and this one is no exception. It looks like Lincoln will be a nice fit for Eyoma, though — the club described him as a “top target” in their statement announcing his arrival, and he was greeted by an excited crowd when he was unveiled before the team’s Tuesday match against Bolton Wanderers.
