I hope you liked last Sunday’s win over Wolves at Molineux, because we get to do it all over again! The draw for the third round of the League/Carabao Cup took place this evening at the conclusion of today’s matches, and Spurs were drawn away at Wolves. Again.

The League Cup always sneaks up on me every year, because it starts so early. I even completely forgot that this draw was taking place despite nominally tracking the Arsenal-West Brom match score off and on this afternoon.
I would’ve liked to have drawn an easier opponent in the third round, but you can’t always get what you want. Spurs had a decently easy run to the finals of this competition last season; they didn’t even have to play in this round as their tie at Leyton Orient was forfeited after an outbreak of COVID-19 within the O’s squad. They went on to beat Chelsea, Stoke, and Brentford until losing to Manchester City in the finals under interim manager Ryan Mason.
Spurs weren’t the only clubs that were handed a tough early round challenge. Manchester United are hosting West Ham, while Chelsea play Aston Villa. The full fourth round draw is below. The matches will take place on or around September 21/22.
