The GOAT may be heading to Hertfordshire. While all eyes are normally on the players who may be joining Tottenham Hotspur at the tail end of the transfer window, equally important are those who may be heading out of the club. One of those players is France international Moussa Sissoko, who Tottenham have been trying to offload since the window opened.

Now Sky Sports and Fabrizio Romano are both reporting that talks are ongoing between Tottenham and Watford to send Sissoko to the HornetMoose before next Tuesday’s deadline.

Sissoko’s tenure at Spurs has been... well, let’s just call it “mixed.” But after a (very) rocky start he carved out a place in Tottenham’s first team under Mauricio Pochettino in the last years of his tenure, and along the way became something of a cult favorite among Spurs fans.

Watford are, by all indications, a team that’s going to need some help if it wants to stay up this season, and if we know one thing about Moussa it’s that he knows how to get stuck in. Say what you want about him, he has proven that he’s a Premier League caliber footballer and it doesn’t surprise me at all that a club like Watford is looking at him.

At Watford, he’d also link up with another beloved former Spurs player in Danny Rose. Not gonna lie, I’d kinda wanna start watching Watford matches just to see these two kings play together.

The other bit Fabrizio mentions in there about Serge Aurier being an option for Lille is also intriguing, and it’s the first I’ve heard of that, too. Let’s see where that goes in the coming days.

There’s no suggestion of a transfer fee or anything along those lines so we don’t know if Sissoko’s would in theory be a permanent deal or a loan/obligation. But apart from a few tenuous links to clubs in the Middle East, this is the first real interest anyone’s shown in him. Whatever you think of him, he’s a player Tottenham really needs to shift this window, so I hope a deal can be struck.
