It’s over! After Fabrizio Romano gave his here-we-go, Tottenham Hotspur have announced their fourth signing of the summer. 18-year old Senegalese midfielder Pape Matar Sarr has formally joined Tottenham Hotspur from Metz, with the player returning to the Ligue 1 for the whole of the 2021-22 season.

The six year deal deal is reportedly for €15m with some substantial performance related add-ons that if if met could substantially increase his wages down the road.
We’ve said this before, but even though Sarr will not join the Tottenham squad officially until next summer, he’s a monster talent that could develop into an incredible Premier League footballer. He’s exactly the kind of young player that Spurs should be targeting as they work their way through their “painful rebuild.”
Another year playing Ligue 1 football will be good for his development, as will being around a system that he knows well and is comfortable with. And with that extra year it likely will make it easier for him to transition to the rigors of Premier League football. We’ll be tracking his year at Metz closely.
Welcome to Tottenham, Big Pape! (Nobody actually calls him that.)
