Moussa Sissoko is very close to completing his transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Watford. The Athletic’s Adam Leventhal is now reporting that a deal has been agreed for a £5m transfer on a two year contract, and that Sissoko has completed his medical at his new club.

Deal now agreed for Moussa Sissoko to join from #THFC after discussions today. Understand 2 year contract with option of further year, fee in region of £5m. Medical completed. @TheAthleticUK
The fee of £5m is lower than the €10m previously reported from some outlets, but not by much. It’s also not that large, but any transfer fee would be acceptable due to Sissoko’s high wages at Spurs.
At Watford, he’ll join up with former Spurs player and current Watford fullback Danny Rose. It’s not clear whether Sissoko will be registered and available in time for him to play against Spurs when the two clubs meet at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this coming Sunday. That could be awkward.
Sissoko has been a model teammate, a popular member of the changing room, and by all accounts a really sweet and good guy. I think we’d be friends. However, as much as he’s liked by some parts of the fanbase, getting him off of Spurs’ books was considered one of the priorities of this window, as he’s not going to get a whole lot of playing time under Nuno Espirito Santo this season.
Not a done deal yet, but it’s close. Thanks for the money, Watford! Enjoy your aging French box to box midfielder!
