The news keeps coming! Minutes after Fabrizio Romano confirmed an agreement between Tottenham Hotspur and Atalanta for the transfer of Cristian Romero, Tottenham announced on social media that Joe Hart has completed his transfer to Celtic in the Scottish Premier League.
We have reached agreement with @CelticFC for the transfer of Joe Hart.
— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) August 3, 2021
We wish Joe all the best for the future.
The release doesn’t say how much of a fee Hart commanded, but past credible reports suggested £1m. Considering Spurs signed Hart on a free transfer last summer, is 34 years old, and is pretty bad at being a goalkeeper, this is a pretty phenomenal piece of business.
The writing was on the wall for ol’ Joe as soon as Spurs confirmed the loan arrival of Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta earlier this summer, and it does sound like he will be in contention for first choice at Celtic, who lost their Champions League qualifier last week and will be playing in the Europa League. Make sure nobody shows them the 3-3 highlights against LASK.
In all seriousness, Hart is an affable guy and a good teammate, and I wish him well. That said, Fabio Paratici is a wizard.
