Moments after Tottenham Hotspur saw off Wolves in penalties to ensure progression to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, the draw took place to see who they would face. The good news is that the draw could’ve been worse. The bad news is that the draw certainly isn’t as easy as it could be.
Tottenham were drawn away to Burnley in the next round, which will take place the week of October 25. Fixture dates and times have not yet been set.

If Spurs do make another deep cup run the way they did last year, nobody can say they haven’t taken a difficult road to get there. Away at Wolves and away at Burnley is an annoyingly difficult path to the quarterfinals, and Spurs will need to do well to get past Sean Dyche’s side.
The full draw for the fourth round does have a few fairly tasty matchups, though. Chelsea, who also progressed today over Aston Villa via penalties, were drawn against Southampton, while West Ham drew Manchester City at home, and Leicester City drew a recently resurgent Brighton. If you like smaller teams making it deep into tournaments, know that one of QPR or Sunderland are guaranteed to reach the quarterfinals, and Stoke vs. Brentford could also spring a surprise.
Here’s the full draw for the next round.
