Tottenham Hotspur are still skirting the edge when it comes to injuries and suspensions, with Yves Bissouma out for four matches plus AFCON, and Destiny Udogie suspended one match. But there is some good news — Ange Postecoglou, in his weekly team update, said that both Brennan Johnson and Giovani Lo Celso are available for selection when Spurs host Everton tomorrow.
Johnson was subbed off in the first half of Tottenham’s win at Nottingham Forest after sustaining a deep gash to his forehead in a clash of heads with Willy Boly. Thankfully he didn’t receive a concussion and has been training with the team all week. Gio Lo Celso has been dealing with a slight knock sustained in training, and has missed the past two matches.
And, in news that is kind of exciting but probably doesn’t mean much, Ashley Phillips has also recovered from his training injury and is also available for selection.
What does this mean for tomorrow? We discussed this in Carty Free writer’s chat and the general consensus is... not much. We suspect we’ll see something very similar to the lineup against Forest, with Emerson Royal replacing Udogie, Johnson returning to the starting XI, and a midfield of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Pape Sarr, and Dejan Kulusevski at the 10. We’d guess that Lo Celso comes on as a late substitute for tired legs, especially as he’s not 100% fit himself, and there doesn’t appear to be much reason to tinker with the forward lineup that’s won the past two matches.
Tottenham host Everton tomorrow (Saturday) at 10 a.m. ET / 3 p.m. GMT. The match is not televised, but will be streamed in the United States on Peacock.
