It’s Tottenham Hotspur Women news day, clearly! Just minutes after announcing that former club captain Shelina Zadorsky was leaving the club on loan, Tottenham ostensibly announced her replacement in Australia international and former Vittsjö fullback Charli Grant!

Grant is now the second Matilda (disambiguation) Spurs have signed this window after announcing the addition of Sweden international winger Matilda Vinberg earlier in the week. Charli is, of course, a member of Australia’s national team known colloquially as “the Matildas.”
And boy is this an exciting signing. Spurs have needed an upgrade at the fullback position, and they got one — Grant can play either side of the pitch and is known as an attacking wingback which makes her a fantastic partner to Ashleigh Neville on the other flank. She’s also a young talent on the rise in women’s football, which makes this both an improvement now and also one for the future — she’s only going to get better. Charli’s contract runs through the end of the 2025-26 season.
I haven’t been this excited about Spurs Women in a while, y’all. Can’t wait to see Charli and the rest of the new players in action. COYS!
