It’s happening, whether you want it or not!

What a thing to wake up to! Tottenham Hotspur are strongly linked with a loan move for RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner, and it looks like this is a thing that’s going to happen. Multiple outlets including most newspapers in the UK and The Athletic are reporting that discussions are underway, and even Leipzig tweeted that Werner was not in the club’s lineup because he’s negotiating with another club.

And there’s more — Florian Plettenberg says Werner is expected to fly to London tomorrow to do a medical and complete the paperwork. Spurs are expected to pay 100% of his wages, which are about €192k/wk (£164k/wk) for the duration of his loan, which may include a purchase option.

As for my opinion, I’m with Matty from his previous article in thinking this is a low-risk, potentially high reward loan at a time when we need warm bodies. Timo Werner was bad at Chelsea, but that seems to be an outlier in what has otherwise been a solid career. He’s a bit on the outs this season at Leipzig and has been dealing with some injuries lately, but he’s fast as hell, can almost certainly adapt to Ange-Ball tactics, and would be an upgrade over both Bryan Gil and Manor Solomon. His wages are high, but he comes with very little risk, assuming the purchase option is an option and not an obligation. Really, I don’t see much downside.

This is happening, y’all. Better get right with God.

UPDATE: The Ornacle says: full agreement reached!
