Football transfers are so stupid sometimes. Just when you settle into a comfort around a particular player, here come some Germans barging in to screw everything up for everyone. According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich have formally submitted a transfer bid for Radu Dragusin that is reportedly slightly higher than the one accepted by Genoa from Spurs yesterday.
That’s right. We’ve got ourselves a good old fashioned gazumping.
EXCL: Radu Dragusin saga has one more twist — Bayern have now sent formal bid to Genoa to hijack the deal!— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 9, 2024
Proposal slightly higher than Tottenham one, NO players included.

It’s up to Dragusin. pic.twitter.com/qOMMK6BXpm
I’m not telling you that you should lapse into abject despair over this new development (don’t, it matters little in the grand scheme, go touch some grass), but it’s not great. Everything I’m seeing now suggests it’s down to Radu himself as to where he wants to go — he’s had personal terms agreed with Spurs for a few days now. So it comes down to this: does he want to play (near) the top of the Premier League, the biggest and richest league in world football? Or does he want to play in the Bundesliga with one of the biggest and richest clubs in world football? And how much do wages come into play?
I don’t know the answer right now and neither do you. But I’m thinking we’re going to find out soon what Radu wants.
Never a dull moment in the transfer window.
