On loan striker Harry Kane injured his foot while playing for Norwich City and will now face 8 weeks on the sidelines.

On transfer deadline day Tottenham Hotspur loaned out promising young striker Harry Kane. The England U21 international was sent to Norwich City to get some first-team experience at the Premier League level. However, Kane has now suffered a major set-back on the road to securing significant playing time for the Canaries.

During this week's Capital One Cup victory over Doncaster Rovers injured his foot. This afternoon Tottenham Hotspurannounced that Kane had undergone surgery on his fifth metatarsal and was facing around 8 weeks on the sidelines. Foot injuries are always tricky things for footballers (for obvious reasons). Rushing a return could result in an even longer injury layoff down the road.

Norwich Manager Chris Hughton seemed a bit downhearted at the prospect of losing Kane for such a long time. Speaking immediately after the match Hughton said"

"He will be a big loss because he is a young player of fabulous potential. It was a big move for Harry to come here, an exciting move. I feel for him at the moment. It is a real disappointment, especially when he was just up and going. He has settled in very well. We just hope it is a shorter period out rather than a longer one."

Hopefully Kane is careful and takes his rehab seriously and is back on the pitch for Norwich sometime in December. Best of luck with your recovery Harry!

Harry Kane suffered what appeared to be a serious injury for Norwich on Wednesday

Tottenham Hotspur sent Harry Kane on loan to Norwich City to get him some experience, but instead he's ended up with what might be a serious injury. The striker went down during the Canaries' League Cup match on Wednesday and had to be stretchered off the pitch.

"He's felt something go in his foot so we will assess the injury tomorrow and of course hope its not too serious," Norwich manager Chris Hughton said after the match.

Reports from the ground feared a serious injury and Kane spent a long time on the ground receiving treatment before getting on the stretcher. Initially, reports called it a knee injury, but Hughton says it is a foot.

Kane was playing in his second match for Norwich and missed a good chance earlier in the match. He was just beginning to find a place in Hughton's squad, which he needed to build on last season's eight-goal output while on loan with Millwall.

Now we wait for word on the severity of his injury. Hurrikane's are strong.
