Hugo Lloris has a groin injury

Ian Walton

EVERYBODY PANIC. Tottenham Hotspur starting goalkeeper, vice-captain, hero and man-god Hugo Lloris has a groin injury that's threatening to keep him out of France duty this week. Hugo's probably been our best player so far this season and losing him would suck a whole bunch.

Here's the AFP wire report, which we found and you can read at Football.co.uk.

France goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris is a doubt for his country's friendly at home to Portugal on Saturday because of a groin problem which forced him to miss training.

The Tottenham Hotspur 'keeper had already worked apart from the rest of his international colleagues on Tuesday and his absence from Wednesday's behind-closed-doors session casts further doubt over his chances of featuring against Portugal.

The good news for Spurs is that there's a bunch of 'doubt' here, and he's not just listed as out. It's unlikely that he'll play, but that's not what matters for our purposes. What matters is that the language being used here doesn't indicate a likely long-term problem that will cause him to miss significant time for Tottenham Hotspur.

But, of course, he could rejoin the club, we could do a scan and he could have a horrific injury. Michel Vorm's career may yet have life!
