Tottenham Hotspur announced today that Harry Kane has signed a new contract with the club that will last through 2019. A youth academy product, Kane finally nailed down a place in the first team at the back end of last season, improbably becoming, along with Nabil Bentaleb, one of the only good things to come out of Tim Sherwood's reign as head coach.
Kane's been on the radar of Spurs fans for what feels like ages, so it's easy to forget that he's only 21. He took a huge step forward last year, becoming one of the only players on our team who seemingly understood how to pull defenders out of position and threaten opposing defenses. Despite being a well built 6'2", Kane plays with more intelligence than many young players with his size and athleticism. He goes into this season as Tottenham's third striker and will almost certainly get more minutes than he has ever seen in his career.
Godspeed Harry Kane, keep scoring goals and leaving your mouth open in every picture ever taken of you.
