Vlad in, Soldado out against AEL

Jamie McDonald

Those hoping to see Roberto Soldado get a chance to either up his currently non-existent sale value or resurrect his Tottenham Hotspur career in Europa League will be disappointed to learn that he won't play against AEL on Thursday. Soldado has a neck and back injury and will miss out, meaning we're likely to see Harry Kane. There's no news on the severity of Soldado's injury yet.

There is some good news, though. Vlad Chiriches is apparently fit enough to make his return to the squad. We've heard rumors that he could be sold, but now that Roma has purchased Kostas Manolas, it's not clear who would want to buy him. Perhaps Sevilla, after we ink Fazio? Michael Dawson won't be the last defender to leave the Lane this summer, but if there's not an obvious buyer for Chiriches, it'll be nice to get him some playing time.

You'll also see Kyle Naughton back in the team, but Kyle Walker won't be ready to go yet. And who knows about whether or not Sandro and Paulinho will be available. If they don't make the 18, transfer activity is probably imminent.
