Tottenham Hotspur got some good news as Ryan Mason returned to training this week and will be available for the first leg of their League Cup semifinal tie on Wednesday. Mason has been out since New Year's Day, when he hurt his hamstring. Joining him in the "available" category is Younes Kaboul, who had been sick.
Unfortunately, Nacer Chadli will not be available for the match after a member of his family passed away. Our condolences are with him and his family.
Federico Fazio, Erik Lamela and Vlad Chiriches will all miss the semifinal as well. Fazio has an illness, while Lamela's calf continues to give him problems, as does Chiriches' back.
It will be interesting to see what Mauricio Pochettino does in this match. He has Leicester City in the FA Cup looming on the weekend, then the second leg against Sheffield next Wednesday so there is some serious fixture congestion and he has to rotate the squad.
Which matches will he prioritize? The League Cup is in the semifinals, but Sheffield are a lower division team. He has decisions to make and with the club looking like they have a chance to win both trophies, it's vital he gets them right.
