For the second consecutive season, Tottenham Hotspur will face Fiorentina in the UEFA Europa League Round of 32.
Last season's tie was a tight one, but one that was ultimately disappointing for Spurs. They put together great stretches of play against the Viola, but their defense was poor, and Fiorentina pulled away in the second half of the second leg to record a 3-1 aggregate win.
Since then, both teams have had quite a bit of turnover. They've changed managers, with Paulo Sousa taking over from Vincenzo Montella. They still play with a back three most of the time, but they've been quite a bit more solid in midfield during this campaign. Stefan Savic, Juan Manuel Vargas, David Pizarro, Alberto Aquilani, Neto and Joaquin are among the important players that Fiorentina shipped off this summer. New signing Nikola Kalinic of Blackburn Rovers fame has been excellent, while Davide Astori and Jakub Blaszczykowski are having solid seasons too.
Fiorentina currently sit second in Serie A, four points behind table-topping Inter Milan. This weekend, they lost 3-1 away to Juventus.
The first leg will be played in Florence on February 18, with the return leg taking place at White Hart Lane on February 25.
