Arsenal weren't great on Saturday, and for once, Arsene Wenger was willing to admit it. In his post-match interview, he admitted that his team wasn't great, despite some decent defending, and that Spurs created more chances.
But, of course, he wouldn't be Wenger if he didn't come up with some kind of excuse for a loss. So in his post-match interview on BT Sport, he took a shot at referee Martin Atkinson, despite the interviewer not asking about him at all or the game including any huge moments in which the Gunners were called offside when they weren't, or the referee could have given a penalty or red card.
"We were not very good and the referee was on our level," said Wenger. "I don't think he had a good day."
Despite Arsenal not really having enough of the ball for Tottenham Hotspur to foul them, Atkinson still showed Spurs four yellow cards and gave Arsenal some free kicks in dangerous areas. So, whatever Arsene. Excuses, excuses.
