It may not be the first pre-season friendly announced — the International Champions Cup matches in the United States have been known for months — but Tottenham Hotspur have added another tune-up ahead of the new Premier League season. The club announced this morning that they will travel to Spain to play Catalonian club Girona FC in a friendly on August 4.
We are pleased to announce that our first team will face @GironaFC in a pre-season friendly next month:

This will no doubt be Spurs’ final friendly before the Premier League kicks off — Spurs are set to play at Newcastle on Saturday, August 11.
Girona are a mid-table club in La Liga — they finished tenth last season after being promoted the season before, and have a new manager this year in Eusabio Sacristan. Their squad doesn’t feature many players that I’m super familiar with, but I did recognize the name Marc Muniesa, who played as a central defender for Stoke the past five seasons. Left back Johan Mojica, who was on Colombia’s World Cup roster, is also part of Girona, meaning that we have no longer seen the last of Mojica i’m sorry i’m sorry i’m trying to delete it.
The match will kick off at 8 pm local time, 7 pm in the UK, 2 pm ET. As of now there is no information about plans to televise or stream the match for public viewing.
