Hugo Lloris “more than twice the legal limit” after drink driving arrest

Yeah, there’s no excusing that.

We finally have some more information regarding Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris’ drink driving arrest a few weeks ago, and unfortunately it casts Tottenham’s club captain in an even worse light than he was before.

According to the Daily Mail, Lloris’ blood alcohol level was “more than twice the legal limit” when he was pulled over in central London after a night out with some of his friends and subsequently arrested for drink driving. This news comes from the police report, which was made available to the media.

I hesitate to bring this up at all, considering the contentiousness of the situation, but this is news, and it is bad, and we should acknowledge that it happened. And I have to say, it doesn’t make the way the club handled the situation look especially good, either. Twice the legal limit is SERIOUS drinking and driving. This wasn’t just a couple of glasses of wine with dinner. This was a big mistake that could’ve hurt someone. I’m flabbergasted.

Hugo has apologized to everyone, and we should accept his apology. I’m a big believer in second chances, because everyone makes mistakes. And frankly, we’ve already said everything we want to say on Hugo’s mistake and the club’s handling of it. Rehashing it doesn’t change the situation.

I’m just really, really disappointed.
