Spurs still going after Schneiderlin

Jamie McDonald

There are still nearly two weeks remaining in the summer transfer window, and Tottenham Hotspur haven't given up on improving their midfield. According to the Express, Spurs are going to bid again for Southampton star Morgan Schneiderlin, and they claim that their offer will be for £17m.

Southampton seem to have put their foot down about letting any more players leave, and in particular, Schneiderlin. Even though Schneiderlin has sent out some nasty tweets and was held out of a preseason game for not being in the right frame of mind, he seems to have gotten over his frustration somewhat. He played 90 minutes for Southampton against Liverpool on Sunday, and he put in a pretty good shift.

But having said that, he's obviously pretty keen to rejoin Mauricio Pochettino and pick up a pay raise. Southampton, meanwhile, have picked up a potential replacement in Saphir Taider and won't be hurt too badly by selling Schneiderlin.

I'm not sure how this is going to play out, but this transfer will probably go down to the wire. Even if Southampton are willing to sell Schneiderlin, they're going to try to suck every last cent out of Spurs, and they'll probably be successful in getting more than £17m.
