It has been rumored all summer that Tottenham Hotspur have been interested in PSV winger and first name all star Memphis Depay. And it hasn't hurt that Spurs seem to be the biggest team interested in the winger, either. Well now it looks like the feeling could be mutual. According to the Mirror, the 20 year old has turned down a new contract offer with PSV.
Don't get super carried away, he's still under contract until 2017, but what this does mean is that he's letting PSV add onto whatever transfer fee he already commands. Tottenham have an abundance of wingers, but any one (or two!) of Aaron Lennon, Nacer Chadli, or Andros Townsend could be seen as surplus to requirements if we sign Depay. However, according to the Mirror, PSV want a fee of €20 million, which could explain this tweet from Dutch football writer Elko Born.
Spurs were genuinely interested in Depay about two weeks ago. Depay is waiting for them, but no offer has been made yet.

Even if you like Depay and think he's an upgrade over what we have that asking price may be in excess of what we're willing to pay when we have three serviceable players in that position. Still, it's hard to discount Depay's potential, not to mention the fun we could have with his first and last names.
