We appear to have reached genuine transfer rumor status with Memphis Depay, though the sourcing is still a tiny bit shoddy. According to De Telegraaf in the Netherlands -- which is a pretty decent paper for transfers -- Depay is willing to listen to an offer from Tottenham Hotspur.

There have been a lot of grumblings about Spurs being interested, and I'm sure they are, on account of Depay being an excellent young player and Spurs' wing options looking various different types of shaky. But The Express recons that PSV are willing to negotiate with Spurs, who are weighing up a bid of about £15m.

All of this makes sense. Spurs are a good step for Depay, who wants to move to a big club, but also one where he has a good chance to start every game he's fit for. They have a team to challenge for Champions League, and when world class players have been there too long without making the tournament, they get sold to Manchester United or Real Madrid. He'd be a great pickup for Spurs, £15m is a price they can swallow, and that's probably around what PSV value him at.

The problem, of course, is that bigger clubs could become interested. Manchester United have been linked due to the Louis van Gaal connection, while Liverpool could opt to go for Depay instead of pursuing Ezequiel Lavezzi further, Juventus could use a player like Depay and Borussia Dortmund will be in need of a Marco Reus replacement if he leaves. Spurs are lucky if they end up being the biggest club in for Depay.

These links all look legit, but you should prepare yourselves emotionally for a gazumping.
