Stoke lead the race to sign Spurs winger

Mark Hughes apparently wants another wide man. Aaron Lennon is probably available for the right price.

If the Daily Mail are to be believed, Stoke City are chasing Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon. Queens Park Rangers have been linked for a bit, since Harry Redknapp likes to buy the same 12 players everywhere he goes, but they only have so much to spend. They're about to throw down £10m on Sandro, so they're likely to look at cheaper winger options. If Lennon leaves, Stoke is a likely destination.

Going into the season, it seemed like Nacer Chadli might be more likely to leave than Lennon. But between the lack of a market for Chadli and his two-goal performance against QPR, Lennon now appears to be the winger Spurs are most likely to get rid of.

Stoke need another wide man, but they're not putting all of their eggs in one basket. They've also been linked to Marseille's Andre Ayew.

The Mail don't cite a fee for Lennon, but we can guess. It would be surprising if he went for less than £7m, while £10m is probably the ceiling of what Spurs could get for Lennon. And at a price in that range, it's probably a very good deal for both teams.
